Inspecting progress on the Hoover Dam from an unusual place. Construction of the Hoover Dam started in 1930 with the goal to control floods, provide irrigation water and produce hydroelectric power. The Dam is named after Herbert Hoover who played a key role in building this dam as the Secretary of Commerce. Herbert Hoover would later become the 31st president of the United States. Construction of the Dam finished up in 1936, two years before schedule.
